Careers

Job openings on the Walter P Moore site are pulled from the iCIMS API.

iCIMS

This section walks through the details of the how data is fetched from the iCIMS API for display on the site.

Fetching all jobs

First, we use the iCIMS Search API to request a summarized list of all jobs. This will return JSON resembling the following:

{
"searchResults": [
{
"portalUrl": "https://careers-walterpmoore.icims.com/jobs/3370/structural-intern-2025/job",
"self": "https://api.icims.com/customers/4675/portals/17/3370",
"id": 3370,
"updatedDate": "2024-10-23 07:12 PM"
},
{
"portalUrl": "https://careers-walterpmoore.icims.com/jobs/3369/structural-intern---summer-2025/job",
"self": "https://api.icims.com/customers/4675/portals/17/3369",

"id": 3367,
"updatedDate": "2024-10-21 06:00 PM"
}
]
}

Fetching each individual job

Next, we loop through each item in searchResults and use the id to make an additional API request for the details of each individual job. This will return the following:

"header": [

"label": "Title",
"value": "Structural Intern 2025"

"label": "Req Number",

Formatting cities for job

iCIMS doesn’t provide us with a list of cities for each job. Instead, it provides a string of locations separated by newlines. We parse this string and extract the cities.

  1. Take the list of cities from the iCIMS API:

    "value": "US-GA-Atlanta\nUS-TX-Austin\nUS-NC-Charlotte\nUS-IL-Chicago\nUS-TX-Dallas\nUS-MO-Kansas City\nUS-NV-Las Vegas\nUS-FL-Orlando\nUS-NC-Raleigh\nUS-FL-Tampa\n..."
  2. Remove the ellipsis from the end of the string (if present) and split the string by newline characters to get a list of individual cities:

    ["US-GA-Atlanta", "US-TX-Austin", "US-NC-Charlotte", "US-IL-Chicago", "US-TX-Dallas", "US-MO-Kansas City", "US-NV-Las Vegas", "US-FL-Orlando", "US-NC-Raleigh", "US-FL-Tampa"]
    1. Extract the city names from the strings:
    ["Atlanta", "Austin", "Charlotte", "Chicago", "Dallas", "Kansas City", "Las Vegas", "Orlando", "Raleigh", "Tampa"]

We use the resulting array of each individual city to match the job up with the appropriate cities in the the CMS.
